A 120-item Big Five test, without the type label

Five domains, thirty facets, scored in your browser. Twenty minutes. No account, and no four-letter code at the end.

What it measures

Five continuous dimensions. Every one of them is a scale, not a category — you are not "an introvert", you are somewhere on a line, and that position moves.

DomainWhat it is about
How easily you are pulled into worry, anger, low mood. Six facets: anxiety, anger, depression, self-consciousness, immoderation, vulnerability.
Extraversion · 外向度Where your energy comes from. Six facets: friendliness, gregariousness, assertiveness, activity level, excitement-seeking, cheerfulness.
Openness · 开放度Appetite for ideas, beauty, novelty. Six facets: imagination, artistic interests, emotionality, adventurousness, intellect, liberalism.
Agreeableness · 亲和度How much you accommodate other people. Six facets: trust, morality, altruism, cooperation, modesty, sympathy.
Conscientiousness · 尽责度Planning and follow-through. Six facets: self-efficacy, orderliness, dutifulness, achievement striving, self-discipline, cautiousness.

Why 120 instead of 50

A 50-item version gives you the five headline numbers. That is enough for an outline and not enough for an explanation. If your extraversion comes out low, the useful question is which part — you may be low on assertiveness and perfectly fine on friendliness. Those lead to very different next steps. The 120-item version splits each domain into six facets so that question becomes answerable.

The trade is time: about twenty minutes instead of eight. If you have not done the short one yet, do that first.

How it is scored

  1. Each item is answered on a five-point scale from "very inaccurate" to "very accurate".
  2. Some items are reverse-keyed and flipped (6 minus the answer).
  3. A facet is the mean of its four items; a domain is the mean of its twenty-four.
  4. Means are mapped linearly onto 0–100 for display.

We checked this against an independent reference implementation of the same inventory: the reverse-keyed item list matches exactly, the item-to-facet assignment matches on all 30 facets, and the facet sums are identical across four published answer sets. What we cannot do is turn those numbers into percentiles — that needs population norms by age and sex, which we do not have. So we do not print them.

What it is not

Not a diagnosis. It says nothing about your mental health, and a high or low score is not a disorder.

Not a type. No four-letter code, no number, no animal. A label is convenient to repeat and useless to think with.

Not a ranking. There is no better or worse profile. A trait that hurts in one job helps in another.

Not permanent. Take it in a bad month and again in a good one; the difference is the interesting part.

How to read your result

Start with the two extremes and ignore the middle. Most of the middle is noise. Then open the facets under your extremes — that is where the sentence you can actually use lives ("I am not low on sociability, I am low on assertiveness").

Then wait. One measurement is a snapshot; two measurements six weeks apart are a signal.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes — no account, no ads, no trial. Scoring happens in your browser.

Where do the questions come from?

The IPIP-NEO-120 (Johnson, 2014), a public-domain inventory. The English wording is the original. The Chinese is our own first-person translation, not a validated Chinese edition — we say so on the test page too.

Can I keep the results?

They stay in this browser and stack up as a history, so you can compare across months. Export your data from Settings if you want a file.

Do you use the results for AI?

Not unless you explicitly hand them over. Nothing is uploaded by default.
